Description:
This Conference session will fine-tune your skills in ethical decision making. Attendees will work in small groups discussing ethical dilemmas that are based on actual ethical scenarios. Presenter will facilitate the discussion around the ethical dilemmas and introduce a decision making model. Attendees will utilize the NASW Code of Ethics to support their decisions. This session is highly engaging with lots of small and large group discussion.
Presenter Bio:
Dan Porter, MSW, LICSW has over 25 years’ experience working with children, adolescents, and families in public, residential, hospital and day treatment programs. He is currently a school social worker on special assignment addressing mental health needs district wide with Northeast Metro Intermediate School District 916. Dan provides Clinical Supervision to social workers for the Profession Matrix. He received his BA in Social Work and Sociology, his Masters in Clinical Social Work, and has a Director of Special Education License. Dan serves on the Board of Directors for Minnesota Association for Children’s Mental Health, Minnesota School Social Workers Association Region 10 Representative, Board of Social Work Advisory Committee, and the Special Education Advisory Committee with Minnesota Department of Education. He has presented at numerous conferences throughout the Midwest on topics such as strategies for supporting youth, promoting student self-esteem, ethical issues, school-based social skills programs, and program development. Dan was named Minnesota School Social Worker of the year in 2012.
