"DBT Skills, Tools and Techniques for School Settings"
Dialectical Behavior Therapy, or DBT, is a practical therapy approach that helps people overcome problem behaviors and live more skillful lives. Over the past three decades DBT has been used across a large number of treatment populations and settings, including with students of all ages in school settings.
In this training, international trainer and author Dr. Lane Pederson will share the skills, tools, techniques, and philosophies that will empower students, therapists, teachers, and paraprofessionals to more skillful behaviors individually and as a school community.
You’ll learn:
• Philosophies that promote working together toward better outcomes
• Skills to regulate emotions, tolerate distress, and have better relationships
• The best ways to change behaviors (that you don’t need to be a therapist to use)
• How to effectively consult with colleagues
Learning Objectives:
• Practice the DBT assumptions and philosophies that promote effective treatment
• Use strategies to help students regulate emotions
• Teach distress tolerance techniques
• Implement the most effective behavior change strategies
• Learn how to use self-monitoring and behavior analysis tools
• Establish consultative guidelines to increase collaboration
